“ Great topping combinations, excellently chewy crust, casear salad has nice variety of greens in it including kale! The chocolate chip cookies here are a must and they also have soft serve ice cream and pineapple dole whip! Ordering online ahead of time is really easy and there's instructions online for how to reheat/refresh your takeout pizza to enjoy it at its best. (In oven at 425 for 2-3 min) highly recommend doing this. ”
“ In a town full of amazing pizza, Red Sauce is my favorite. Whenever we have visitors from out of town, at least one night is spent getting take out from here because it is always a hit! You pay for quality. 420 breadsticks a MUST. ”
“ Red Sauce has been consistently delicious over the many years we’ve been customers. High quality ingredients plus a flavorful dough with perfectly chewy crust. And my god, the hoagies - homemade sourdough bread stuffed with sopressata, mortadella, pepperoni, provolone and fixins. The best in town. So, the food is wonderful but what’s really kept us coming back is the staff who have been friendly and attentive even on their busiest nights. Red Sauce also uplifts other small business and amplifies community care and mutual aid efforts - what more could you want from your neighborhood pizza shop? ”
“ Love this pizza! Delicious crust, sauce, and cheese. We had great service, which certainly earned more than a 20% tip. As we played Uno and drank delicious wine, I saw many folks coming in for soft serve. I’m pretty particular about pizza and RS is definitely one of the best in Portland! ”
“ To say "pizza is life" is an understatement in my world. I'm always bugging my sweetie for more pizza, especially at places we've never been. After dropping friends off, we found ourselves cruising Fremont, hot for a veggie heavy meal. I saw the sign and suggested it. "As long as a salad is involved," was the compromise. We walk in. The place is cute. They have old-timey Pizza Hut lamps over their front window tables. We were shown a menu of food and drink. Immediately I noticed their wine, particularly their BTG. We ordered a sparkling garganega frizzante and a Lambrusco. These are awesome selections and not found at most stupid chain pizzerias where choices are merely red or white. Even their beer selections. Nothing against pFriem beer, but every pub in Portland has it. Red Sauce wisely features smaller microbreweries both by the bottle and on tap. (I also noticed some local non-alcoholic beer selections for those who still enjoy a pizza and beer but w/o the Alc. Good on them). What really sold us were the little touches. Sweetie pointed out each table had a deck of playing cards. The table nearest to us...UNO. We sat and the attentive staff took our order. We knew what we wanted, the house salad which had much more than boring "spring green mix with choice of dressing." It featured sliced oranges, pepitas, radishes, rainbow carrots and a subtle citrus vinaigrette that did not overpower. The garganega was perfect with it. Several games of UNO were played. Sweetie cheats so a careful eye must pay attention. Like many pizzerias of old, each table has a mini rack keeping the pies off the table. I commented that the racks also serve as 1/2 of a warming system if a candle was placed underneath. The pie arrived. We always order the cheese on a first visit. This allows one to pay attention to the trifecta; crust/sauce/toppings. I immediately noticed it WAS NOT Sheppard's Grain which every local place is wont to use. I get it, sustainable, local, good owners. However, pies made with it tend to be more chewy, less crisp and without the snap when a slice is folded in half. Without knowing, I suspect they are using Caputo 00 flour or similar. Not an inexpensive choice. Whatever it is, it works. The char was perfect. Anybody who thinks their pizzas are burnt are idiots and their dogs hate them. The sauce pronounced itself but was not overpowering. The cheese ratio was spot on. I commented to a staff member how nice it was to see proper char. He commented, "its part of our CHARm. Cute. Earlier I mentioned lack of candle/warmer under the table rack. It wasn't necessary. The pie disappeared quickly. The bill advised us a 20% gratuity was already included. Good for them. We added a touch more. We will return. ”
“ Hands down, best thing I’ve ever taken into my mouth. Perfectly charred crust, high quality ingredients, and great people. I ordered online and saw up front about the gratuity added to the order, so I’m not sure why other reviewers had an issue with this. Honestly, I’ve paid more for lesser pizza without gratuity so I felt their prices were more than fair. I love this practice because then I don’t have to think about it, it’s taken care of already. I’d add a photo but we ate it all on the way home! ”
“ The “Ruthless” lives up to the name. Mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil. I’ve never had a pizza like this. We picked it up to go and crushed the whole thing in the car. Zero shame. Next time we’re ordering two. I can already feel a new addiction coming on. ”
“ In a city full of incredible food, especially pizza, Red Sauce shines as bright as anybody. One of our go-to neighborhood spots and should be yours as well. Some folks don’t like their 20% automatic gratuity, but we’re happy to contribute and usually tip that way anyhow. Restaurants have been feeling the squeeze just like a lot of us. **The pies pictured are added just for fun, but are actually some we made at home. Theirs look far better. Go find out for yourself!!** ”
